Disclaimer
Information provided by South Petherton Walking Group (SPWG) is intended as a general guide and has been provided in good faith. When joining a walk, rather than relying on the information provided, it is strongly recommended that individual walkers verify its correctness. SPWG reminds every walker that joins the group, that it is each individual’s responsibility to approach outdoor activities, such as walking, with caution. Walking can be demanding and it is the responsibility of each individual to ensure they are fit enough to complete the distance before joining any walk. If there are any doubts a ‘would be’ walker should consult their General Practitioner, Doctor or other medical advisor.
While Walking
The purpose of led walks is to allow a group of people to socialise and gain the health benefits of walking while, hopefully, not getting lost! Walk descriptions, pictures and maps, only tell the story from the viewpoint of the walker suggesting the route at the time. While following directions you may have to take account of differences in season and weather conditions.
While walking in the countryside please:
Be safe – Stay with the group.
If the pace is too fast, say so. This is a social activity, not a race.
If you have a medical condition, make sure that someone knows about it.
Leave gates and property as you find them.
Stay on the footpaths or pavements where possible.
Protect plants and animals, and take your litter home.
Keep dogs under close control.
Consider other people.
Consider yourself.
